ABIL Employment Services
(Formerly The Ticket
To Work Program)
|
ABIL Employment Services is a network that helps people with disabilities, who are Social Security beneficiaries, find employment. SSI/SSDI beneficiaries receive a "Ticket to Work" from the Social Security Administration that can be deposited with ABIL Employment Services for help in returning to gainful employment. As a result of legislation signed into law in December 1999, people on Social Security Disability have a variety of work incentives to help taper them off benefits and enable them to again support themselves and their family. For example, SSI/SSDI beneficiaries no longer lose health care coverage (Medicare and/or AHCCCS) simply because they return to work and lose their cash benefits. The incentives also allow beneficiaries to give work a try and to resume benefits immediately if they are not able to continue working. Once the beneficiary is employed through the “Ticket to Work” program ABIL Employment Services remains available to provide them ongoing employment support services for 60 months. The majority of our staff at ABIL are people with disabilities so we understand the fears people have about leaving SSI/SSDI cash benefits behind. We know how hard it is to survive on government benefits alone. ABIL Employment Services assists beneficiaries to get a foot in the door with major employers who offer great jobs with benefits. ABIL serves as an advocate and mentor to help beneficiaries achieve a successful career that enriches their lives personally and financially. ABIL Employment Services offers a variety of services to help people become economically self-sufficient in the community. We partner with the beneficiary and focus on ability, not disability.
