IL Skills Training
Our independent living skills instruction starts with an assessment in order to develop an individualized plan, identifying goals to be achieved. Training is done either on a one-to-one basis or in group workshops where Peer Support is beneficial. Topics of our skills training include, but are not limited to: use of community resources, budgeting, transportation skills, cooking skills, self-advocacy, household management, nutrition, organizational skills, communication skills and stress management.

The Lost Boys of Sudan
On June 15th. The ABIL Independent Living Team hosted an educational presentation from the Arizona Lost Boys Center. The purpose of the presentation was to educate ABIL consumers and staff of yet another example of human fortitude. Persons with disabilities fully understand and live with human fortitude everyday!
There are many similarities between the mission of ABIL and the Center. Like ABIL the Center provides a welcoming, non-judgmental haven where consumers receive assistance in many areas. The Center also demonstrates the philosophy of Independent Living to the fullest. The Centers mission is: To encourage the empowerment of the Lost Boys and Girls of Sudan by supporting their cultural, educational, employment, emotional and recreational needs.
